The Round the Island Race 2026 once again transformed Cowes into the heart of the sailing world, as hundreds of yachts and thousands of sailors gathered for one of the world’s most iconic yacht races. Starting from the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line, competitors set off on the 50-nautical-mile course around the Isle of Wight, passing landmarks including The Needles, St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge before returning to Cowes. Blessed with fine weather and light easterly winds, the 2026 race showcased both competitive sailing and the unique spirit of the event, bringing together professional crews, amateur sailors and families in a true “Race for All.” (roundtheisland.org.uk)

The weather was perfect shoreside for photographing, warm, dry but with a light easterly winds.
