As I stepped off the bus, I encountered the Picturesque landscape laid out in front of me, sweeping across Brading Marsh and beyond. I continued walking down Sandown Road towards the start of Culver Down Road.
The excitement started to build as I approached. The hill I was about to walk up was so big.
As I made my way slowly up Culver Down Road (the road itself secluded, rambling over the heights of both Bembridge and Culver Down), the Fort I knew to be there somewhere stayed hidden.
(BF001) – The highly textured dome, nestled in the long grass with the panoramic landscape stretching for miles behind it.
I continued walking up. Witnessing sweeping panoramic landscapes across Brading, Bembridge and Sandown. With the Fort nestled into the fabric of the merging Bembridge and Culver Down, it remained hidden right up until I was walking by its walls.
With my photographers hat on, when I approach a new subject I try to ensure my photos echo the feeling of the location and my personal experience while discovering and exploring.
As I crossed the bridge and through the gates, the silent beauty of the Fort started to whisper its emotional history.

(BF002) – I love the low angle on this highly textured and atmospheric hallway. The textures and marks on the floor and walls echo all of the activities of the individuals who worked within this environment.
As I walked away from Bembridge Fort towards Yaverland, I occasionally glanced back, reflecting on the fond memories gained from the day.
The Fort once again nestled and hid itself away from public view into the wilderness of the surrounding Downs.
