Being based near the sea, we’re especially drawn to Carisbrooke for its proximity to the coast. The views stretch across the Isle’s rolling hills to the Solent beyond—reminding us how land and sea have always shaped English identity.
Tintagel Castle: Where Myth Meets the Sea
No St George’s Day celebration would be complete without a nod to the mythical. Tintagel Castle in Cornwall is a place where Arthurian legend, craggy cliffs, and ocean spray collide. Perched dramatically above the Atlantic, this site echoes with ancient tales of heroism and sorcery.
Tintagel is one of our favourite locations to photograph. Its dramatic landscape and timeless legend tie beautifully into the themes of St George’s Day—battles, bravery, and the enduring pull of the past.

Beyond the castles, England’s seaside remains a powerful symbol of both protection and peace. From the chalky cliffs of the south to the rugged beaches of the north, the coast represents openness, connection, and national resilience.
